To Foster Understanding of 20th CPC National Congress

Diplomats, scholars and journalists from nearly 80 countries exchanged views on the guiding principles of the recently concluded 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), at a forum on November 2.
The event titled "Hong Ting Forum: Understanding the 20th CPC National Congress", was jointly hosted by the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee and Xinhua News Agency, at the Museum of the Communist Party of China in Beijing.
Speaking at the forum, Qu Qingshan, president of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, said the pivotal CPC congress reviewed the work of the past five years and the great transformations seen in the first decade of the new era, laid out the Party's missions and tasks on its new journey of the new era, and outlined the development goals and major policies of the CPC and the country for the next five years and beyond.
Fu Hua, president of Xinhua News Agency, shared his insights on the milestone CPC congress. The report to the 20th CPC National Congress is a political declaration and a program of action for the CPC to bring together Chinese people of all ethnic groups and lead them in securing new success for socialism with Chinese characteristics, Fu said when addressing the forum, adding that the report serves as a window for the world to understand China.
Other international experts also exchanged their insightful perspectives both online and offline, on topics covering the critical role of the CPC, Chinese modernization and China's refined traditional culture.
Sean Slattery, an English Expert at Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, said that over the last ten years China has made a lot of headway in promoting common prosperity, such as improving people's living standards and winning poverty alleviation campaign in the rural area.
Slattery highlighted that to achieve common prosperity, efforts would still be focused on encouraging people to realize development goal through hard work and creativity, while also ensuring the state plays its role of meeting basic needs and providing services.
"The progress China has made over the past decade has left it well-placed to take significant strides toward common prosperity in the years to come," he concluded.
"Chinese modernization has a growing impact on the world," said Peggy Cantave Fuyet, a French expert at the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, adding that Chinese path offers a new path to modernization that can serve as a source of inspiration for other countries and makes a greater contribution in promoting human progress, world peace and development, as well as building ecological civilization and a community for a shared future of mankind.
Foreign reporters also shared their views on the road map to China's development for the next five years.
Rahool Basharat, from Pakistan Television, spoke highly of the role of the forum and regarded it as a platform to better understand China and the CPC. Basharat quoted the words emphasized by General Secretary Xi Jinping, "Just as China cannot develop in isolation from the world, the world needs China for its development." "China's opening up and development are what people worldwide expect and pursue," he told Science and Technology Daily.
