This work shows that plant use and domestication occurred concurrently in Southeast Asia and the Fertile Crescent.
The third week of May marks China's 10th National Nutrition Week, with a focus on promoting the consumption of vegetables, fruits, milk, whole grains, and soybeans. Today, Chinese consumers are spoilt for choice with the variety of milk options available, especially since camel milk has emerged as a significant player in the dairy stakes.
The Keqiutou Site group, an archaeological cluster going back to the Neolithic Age 6,500-7,300 years ago, was one of China's top 10 archaeological discoveries in 2023. Located on Pingtan Island in southeast China's Fujian province, the cluster includes the Keqiutou, Xiying, Donghuaqiu and Guishan sites.
Yellow tea, a lightly fermented variety, is one of the six major teas in China. Compared to other teas, its production accounts for a small proportion of the total tea output.
Dark tea is named for its dark brown color, which results from the use of coarse aged tea leaves and the long period of pile-fermentation during processing. Different from the oxidation of oolong tea and black tea, the post-fermentation of dark tea is a unique process of piling with microbial participation.
"The new materials industry is the cornerstone of high-tech industries because it supports the construction of major projects and fosters emerging industries," Xiao Jinsong, a researcher at the China Center for Information Industry Development, told Science and Technology Daily.
Since 2001, China has been observing the National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) every May, a vibrant celebration of innovation, discovery, and the wonders of science. To be held from May 25 to June 1 this year, it is a platform to showcase the nation's latest technological advancements and research breakthroughs, aiming to engage the public and enhance scientific literacy across all walks of life.

Earlier, on May 3, China's Chang'e-6 lunar probe carried France's Detection of Outgassing RadoN to the moon, marking the first collaboration between the two countries in lunar exploration and France's debut in a lunar landing project. This year also celebrates the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, highlighting their longstanding cooperation in space.
Pushing the development of tech innovation is needed to achieve China's goal of becoming a leading sports nation by 2035, as well as becoming a modernized country.
