Forum to Build China-Africa Community Through Sci-tech Cooperation

The three-day 2023 China-Africa Innovation Cooperation and Development Forum kicked off in Wuhan, Hebei province in central China on July 6 with the aim of promoting science and technology innovation cooperation and technology transfer, inclusive and mutually beneficial international cooperation, and jointly building a community of shared future for all.
Co-hosted by China’s Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and the local government, it introduced parallel activities on China-Africa sci-tech cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative and showcased the results of cooperation in advanced technology.
Zhang Guangjun, Vice Minister of MOST, said the ministry will work with African countries to expand exchanges and create cooperation platforms to improve the level of scientific research. It will accelerate the industrialization of successful innovations and promote a high-level China-Africa community of shared future.
Wang Zhonglin, Governor of Hubei, said there will be new projects in public health, poverty alleviation, trade and people-to-people exchanges so that innovation can benefit more people in Africa. Inrecent years, Hubei has strengthened cooperation with African countries in sci-tech innovation for mutual development and prosperity.
The forum also launched a China-Africa youth innovation and entrepreneurship competition focusing on the digital economy, recycling economy, services and manufacturing.
